Do you love freely and openly without fear? If not why not??? What are you missing spiritually?
Care
As a total people our community needs are the same as any other community. This newspaper is a part of the structure that is necessary to meet the community needs. As the gay bars and restaurants; the gay community center, now in the planning stages; & the gay laundromat and beauty shop I heard dreamed about this week. In addition, there are the many gays you know running the businesses which serve us. All are in that community structure. But, what is missing that all of society thru all time has required to survive?? A place where gays can go to worship God and renew their spiritual life. A Christian church that believes we are God's children. too, and lays no guilt trip on us because we were born homosexual instead of heterosexual.
We here in Cleveland are very lucky people, because we have such a church and unfortunately very few of us know it. For roughly five years there have been people working to build our church. Not just a corner storefront, but complete Church which would meet the spiritual needs of the gay community seven days a week. The faces have changed during those years, but the dedication has not. Dedicated people are of a very special breed -you see,

you forget but, they do not. They just keep right on working; knowing that each and every one of us will need the fruits of their labor some day. Maybe not today, nor tomorrow, but some day:
These words are meant to remind you or inform you, whichever the case may be. Call it a progress report on the Gay Christians that you have lost touch with, or completely forgotten existed. The original group worked for a couple years and gave up, then a little fellow named Arthur picked up the hoe and carried on. He got together
By the Grace of God they will be a full chartered church by the end of 1976. Arthur has gone on to Chicago to further his ministerial studies in the fellowship and Dan Richmond took over as Worship Coordinator in February, 1976. Rev. Richmond came to Cleveland from Philadelphia with a fine ministerial record and fully capable of taking over the reins of the Cleveland Mission. He has done a fine job.

Their attendance is around forty every Sunday, the church office has regular hours three days a week, and there are church activities going on all week long. He and his clergy staff complete counseling opportunities for their congregation and have at their disposal gay professionals for referrals. This small group of people have accumulated complete list of resources available to the gay community

What does this mean to you?
It means that if you are one, of the hundreds that feels an empty place within you because you cannot go to your own church without that guilt trip we spoke about that Cleveland MCC is here waiting for you.
There is a gay bowling league that bowls every Tuesday evening, there is a Wednesday evening singspiration and bible study service, Thursdays the new rap group Discovery meets, and Fridays Gay AA& Alanon (for info call 687-0416 or 961-5658) meets. They are just waiting for someone to in and volunteer to spearhead the Maturity Group for Gays over 40 which will include both rap and social affairs.

Saturdays there is usually either a car wash or a bakesale and rummage sale for fund raising. Their services are held on Sunday evenings at 7:30 at Bethany Pres. Church, W. 65 and Clinton, and the offices are at 2999 W. 25 Street, upstairs; complete information can be obtained by telephoning 6963649.
Later this summer there will be picnics and swim parties scheduled for Sunday afternoons if you are too shy or reserved to dive into a church service right off the bat, join in of the other social functions to meet the people involved and see if you don't feel that you have finally found the place where you belong.
